Clashing colors not only look unprofessional but they're guaranteed to get less clicks than ads whose colors are coordinated to the web site they're on. If you're not quite sure whether or not your ads look good on your site get a second or third opinion from friends or family.

The next thing you want to do is keep track of how much your ads are paying. If you're receiving the lowest payouts on your ads you'll want to take some time to research which ads are paying more and take steps to alter your site as needed to be able to place higher-paying ads on your site. There are some ads that cost the advertiser as much as $50 to $75 per keyword! As the publisher of such an ad just think of what your share of that ad may be.

I'm sure you can see why you'll want to pay close attention to the little things like ad placement, color, content on your site and ad payout. Although they may not seem like the most important aspects of your web site, with the exception of the content, they do have a big impact on how successful AdSense can be for you. Most users of Google AdSense spend a good bit of time initially tweaking their sites to maximize their earnings, but it is most definitely worth it in the long run when you see the profitability of your web site increasing on a regular basis.
